This is a typical policy and procedure handbook casinos give to new hires. We stole this one fair and square. These are common rules that all casinos share. In the red ink is our truthful no bullshit reasoning behind such rules.
1. All wagers should be made before the dice are thrown. Notice the author used the word "should" ...... all yours Josh even though I can rip this one
2. Watch the game at all times. What the author may be implying is to be aware of your surroundings and always help protect the assets of your employer. In other words, pay attention during a live game.
3. Cash and chips are not to be taken from a players hand or from the rack. They are to be set down on the layout by the player, and you must clarify the purpose of the money before picking it up.
4. When the shooter has the dice, both you and the stick dealer should watch the players hand. When the dice are rolling your way, confirm that the call from stick is the correct call. WRONG You and the stick should watch shooters hand only if the shooter is on the base you're dealing at. If the shooter is on the other side of the table, you are to keep your eyes on your end. Yes, make sure sure numbnuts on the stick calls the right number.
5. If you are dealing on the same end as the shooter do not “hawk” the dice. In other words, don’t look at the dice landing. Always keep your eyes on your end of the table. Protect yourself first and foremost.
.
6. It will be the base dealer’s responsibility to be aware of the amounts bet and to whom thee bets belong to. Be particularly aware of the bets made on the DON’T PASS DON’T COME as these are the most vulnerable points on the layout for past posting.
7. Acknowledge and call out all bets clearly WHAT, HOW MUCH & WHO so that other dealers and BOX understands the bet. It also reaffirms to the player you understand exactly what the player wants.
8. Deal to the supervisor and camera. All transactions are to be cut out on the COME area of the layout in such a manner that all parties can see exactly what is about to transpire. THERE ARE NO SECRETES ON A CRAPS GAME.
9. Make the BOX aware of any players who make suspicious moves or causing problems for other players.
10. The base dealer has the responsibility to eliminate situations for claims to occur. By strict adherence to dealing procedures, you can eliminate any opportunity the dishonest or honestly confused players may have to present a claim. “Sounding off” and repeating ALL BETS and payoffs is the strongest weapon any casino has against such claims. If a dealer remains silent on any transaction, they leave themselves and the house open to claims.
11. Complete each transaction before going to the next.
12. Deal with both hands. Do not lean on the table.
13. Never pay with dirty money.
14. Only take a full stack out of bank. Only return full stacks to bank.
15. While dealing on base, you will use the closest hand (Inside hand) to remove and return cheques
16. Dealers will not be allowed to take out high denomination cheques from bank (Black 100 and up)
17. If a player bets too much odds, the overage will paid as a place bet. All money will be taken upon loss.
18. A player can call their bets “on’ and “off” at any time with the exception of “contract bets”
Taking and Paying
1. TAKE-PAY-MOVE – Always take what the house has won before paying any bet.
2. When taking or paying bets, you must deal to each bet as you come to it. Never pay two bets simultaneously on PASS, DON’T PASS or FIELD. One at a time please.
a) Down Behind
b) Field
c) Corner
d) Dont Come (DC)
e) Come bets starting with player one
f) Place bets starting with player one.
3. Pass and Dont Pass bets will be paid from base toward stick (Player 8 to player 1) Pay odds first then flat bet for each individual wager. The first bet should be paid with your outside hand. DO NOT TOTAL wagers on the Pass Line unless totally necessary or instructed by
supervisor. When totaling bets, only do so to save cheques. The odds and flat bets should be paid separately. Always be aware of spacing between flat bet and odds so that a die wont get wedged in between. Try to keep a two finger distance between flat bet and odds.
4. Size into all bets even one cheque.
5. Do no place change or payoff in players rail. Place cheques on the apron of the layout with the outside hand heeled off the bottom cheque. Never in the betting areas of the game. Base Dealer Being Relieved:
1. A dealer may not be relieved until all work for which they are responsible has been completed. For the previous, roll of the dice.
2. Dealers must inform the incoming dealer of who owns any COME, PLACE or DONT COME (DC) bets.
3. At no time should any dealer, base or stick be relieved change positions while the shooter has the dice in their possession
4. A dealer being relieved should be relieved from the outside and turn toward BOX supervisor with empty palms upward.
5. Craps dealers must clear hands at any time when not over the game including touching face or body.
Do’s
1. Stay in your assigned work area
2. Watch your end your end only
3. Book (repeat) bets properly in an audible voice for all to hear.
4. Leave the pit immediately when relieved.
5. Hand all uncertain bets to BOX for verification.
6. Size into bets in the same area they were bet.
7. Show payoffs in the COME
8. On 7-out leave marker puck on number until all work is completed.
9. Pay last COME bets from base to stick
Don’ts
1. Use slang terms
2. Play with cheques or lammers
3. Hawk the dice
4. Look around the casino during a live game
5. Talk on a game when players are present unless it pertains to player or their bets.
6. Lean on hand while making payoffs
7. Correct a mistake without BOX permission
8. Let players touch “contract” bets
9. Say “it’s a roll”
10. Loiter when leaving the pit
11. Avoid talking with dealers or supervisors in the pit unless it is business related.
12. Avoid bring your cellphone into pit
